What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of relaxed focus. Hypnosis is perfectly natural and safe. When you drift off to sleep, for example you briefly pass through a natural state of hypnosis, and you do the same thing in the morning when we wake up. You might consider it to be that fuzzy mental place when you are neither fully awake nor fully asleep. You are also in a hypnotic state when we are driving on an open highway and you suddenly “awake” and wonder how much time has passed and how you have managed not to have an accident or maybe you missed your exit. Being engrossed in a TV show, watching a movie in a theatre, , or reading an article or book can also produce hypnosis.
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy uses the process of hypnosis for therapeutic purposes. It's typically used to initiate a change in a person while he/she is in a hypnotic state. The therapy makes use of guided techniques for relaxation done by a trained hypnotherapist. The process invokes feelings of intense concentration, relaxation, and focus.
Can anyone be hypnotized ?
In general, most everyone can be hypnotized as long as they are willing to go along with the process,
What are some of the common uses for hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy has been shown to help those who suffer from performance anxiety such as in sports and speaking in public. It has also been noted to help with learning, participating in the classroom, concentrating, studying, focusing attention span, improving memory, and helping remove mental blocks about particular issues.
In more general areas, hypnotherapy has been found to be beneficial for motivation, procrastination, decision making, personal achievement and development, job performance, relaxation, and stress management. In health care hypnotherapy has been beneficial for smoking/vaping cessation, weight loss, sleep issues and pain reduction.
• Psychoanalysis: 38% recovery after 600 sessions
• Behavior Therapy: 72% recovery after 22 sessions
• Hypnotherapy: 93% recovery after 6 sessions.
Many people believe hypnosis is a last resort tool for smoke cessation, weight loss or changing habits. Hypnosis is a dynamic and vital healing process embracing all aspects of mental health care. Hypnosis is client-centered with its focus on the discovery of the origin of a person’s issues.
Through the process of hypnosis the unconscious mind goes to the original cause, which then gives the person and practitioner the opportunity to process the original feelings surrounding the original experience/cause. These surrounding feelings can be healed, thus empowering the person to live the life they want to live.
This study clearly points out—Hypnosis is more effective and works more quickly than traditional talk-therapy or psychoanalysis. In a hypnotic state, you are more receptive to new ideas and you can more effectively process the emotions linked to the experiences, which created pain, fear, sadness, anger, guilt, shame, humiliation and low self-esteem.
Hypnosis is a special form of communication to the subconscious mind where habits are established and memory is stored. Because the language of the subconscious mind is visual, the more detailed your image is of your goal, the faster your subconscious mind will create the changes you desire. Once your subconscious accepts a new idea, you automatically accept it at a conscious level.
Hypnosis is a natural state of the mind that is between the aware state and sleep. Driving a route you are familiar with and not being conscious of every turn you make is similar to the hypnotic state. Hypnosis allows you to access your subconscious mind, which makes up 90% of your brain which stores all memory. With hypnosis, you reprogram and release thought patterns and habits to make desirable, lasting changes in your life.
You are in control: Hypnosis is completely relaxing and you are completely aware during the experience. It's a myth that someone is making you do something. The hypnotherapist helps you connect with your subconscious mind, which puts YOU in control of your subconscious mind—the most powerful and empowering aspect of your brain. Hypnosis restores your freedom of choice, and in many cases you may not have had that in many years!

I have been seeing Trish for several months now, and enjoy the environment of sessions with her. I feel that I can fully be myself, speaking freely while also learning, with her help, ways to both deal with everyday stressors and work on long-term healing goals. I have experience with EMDR in the past, so hypnosis therapy is right up my alley; I find I prefer it over standard "talk therapy" as it incorporates my subconscious as well, and goes beyond just chatting about whatever "issues" might be brought up. We have run the gamut of types of sessions, from inner-child work, childhood trauma healing, energy-work and my back-and-forth over both loving and despising humans, ha. She helped me finally kick nicotine for good, and each hypnotherapy session seems very personalized to me, which I very much appreciate. I am grateful to have found her!
